The other way round also works. I have been testing UserLAnd App for over two months.

UserLAnd Technologies is a free and open-source ad-free compatibility layer mobile app that allows Linux distributions, computer programs, computer games and numerical computing programs to run on mobile devices without requiring a root account.

In this period I have used Linux longer than in decades before. My advantage - my smartphone has a docking station to which I can connect a monitor, mouse and keyboard. So I have a Linux-based desktop client in my pocket ;-).

@thanatos Nee, Ubuntu kommt mir nicht mehr ins Haus xD Ich denke das ist vor allem Interessant fÃ¼r Menschen, die sich halt kein Smartphone mit Android ins Haus holen wollen (gibt ja noch weitaus mehr GrÃ¼nde), aber aufgrund diverser ZwÃ¤nge (JA ICH MEINE DICH, DeutschePostDHL!) nicht auf Android "Apps" verzichten kÃ¶nnen.

@Omega9 I became aware of Termux a year before I discovered UserLAnd. I installed Termux on my smartphone at that time, even got Apache running on it. The goal was to see if I could install Hubzilla in the Termux environment on my smartphone. The Termux project has fallen asleep for me, although Termux is still installed. It is with me, as with the many users learning a new environment, whether UserLAnd or Termux - not an end in itself, but a means to an end.

For me, the Termux project fell asleep because the barrier to entry with Termux was much too high compared to UserLAnd and the cost/benefit ratio was unfavorable for Termux. By this I mean that I have to learn too much so that I can use Termux for my purposes, which has never happened before.

With UserLAnd I have had only a ONE time effort - install UserLAnd app. Since then, I have a Linux working environment that I use daily, dipping into it peu Ã peu as soon as there is a need. The fact is, I've been using Linux longer in these couple of months with UserLAnd than in decades before. And I now routinely use Linux functionality - such as disk searches - for my purposes, which never happened before. Ah yes, before I decided on a Linux environment that suited me, I also installed Archlinux - see my question from back then here #^https://forum.archlinux.de/d/34047-archlinux-unter-termux

My gut feeling is that if the Linux communities had focused more on common ground instead of wasting energy on trench warfare, Linux's chances would have increased noticeably compared to proprietary solutions.

Ich bin ein Jahr bevor ich UserLAnd entdeckt habe, auf Termux aufmerksam geworden. Ich habe Termux damals auf meinem Smartphone installiert, habe sogar Apache darauf zum Laufen gebracht. Das Ziel war dabei - zu testen, ob es klappt, Hubzilla in der Termux-Umgebung auf dem Smartphone zu installieren. Das Projekt Termux ist bei mir eingeschlafen, obwohl Termux immer noch installiert ist. Damit meine Ich, dass ich zuviel lernen muss, damit ich Termux fÃ¼r meine Zwecke einsetzen kann.

Mit UserLAnd habe ich nur einen EINMALIGEN Aufwand - UserLAnd-App installieren - gehabt. Seit dem habe ich eine Linux-Arbeitsumgebung, die ich tÃ¤glich nutze und in die ich peu Ã peu eintauche, sobald ein Bedarf besteht. Tatsache ist, dass ich in diesen ein Paar Monaten mit UserLAnd Linux lÃ¤nger genutzt habe, als in Jahrzehnten zuvor. Und ich setze inzwischen routinemÃ¤ÃŸig Linux-FunktionalitÃ¤t - bspw. die Suche auf der Festplatte - fÃ¼r meine Zwecke ein, was vorher nie vorgekommen ist. Ah ja bevor ich mich fÃ¼r eine fÃ¼r mich passende Linux-Umgebung entschieden habe, habe ich auch Archlinux installiert - s. meine Frage von damals hier #^https://forum.archlinux.de/d/34047-archlinux-unter-termux

Vom BauchgefÃ¼hl her meine ich - wenn die Linux-Communities mehr Wert auf Gemeinsamkeiten sich konzentriert hÃ¤tten, statt die Energie fÃ¼r GrabenkÃ¤mpfe zu verschwenden, wÃ¤ren die Chancen von Linux im Vergleich zu proprietÃ¤ren LÃ¶sungen spÃ¼rbar gestiegen.
